Everyman to open new venue at The Whiteley in Queensway, London

The Whiteley, the grand reimagining of London’s first-ever department store, has signed Everyman to take up residence in the major £1bn redevelopment, opening in 2024.

The announcement marks the next major signing for The Whiteley, which will include a vibrant array of stores, restaurants and public spaces, when it completes.

The Whiteley has collaborated with Everyman – the leaders in contemporary cinema experiences – to play a central role in the building’s bold new future, reimagining and revitalising the building for a new generation.

Everyman’s success has been built on its bold vision to redefine the cinema experience, bringing an innovative lifestyle approach to their venues. Bringing a landmark building back to life, The Whiteley looks to combine heritage and legacy with the best of contemporary living, making Everyman a natural partner for this new state-of-the-art cinema.

Offering curated wine lists alongside freshly made food, delivered directly to your seat, the screens at The Whiteley will house plush sofas and armchairs, exclusively designed for maximum comfort to ensure a premium experience from start to finish.

Everyman joins The Whiteley as the latest partner to bring a unique lifestyle offering to residents and to those who live in the neighbourhood. Last year, The Whiteley announced its partnership with Six Senses hotel and spa, offering 109 rooms, 14 Six Senses residences and a members’ social and wellness club.

The Whiteley, a joint venture development between pan-European investment manager MARK and C C Land, presents a dynamic retail opportunity in an area of London on the cusp of a major transformation. The space will house 19 shops, retail concepts, lifestyle brands, restaurants and cafes, becoming part of the 1.1 million sq ft space which will feature 139 high specification residences and architecture from Foster + Partners.

Marcus Meijer, founder and CEO of MARK, said: “Our vision for The Whiteley, and the wider Queensway neighbourhood, is to deliver beautiful buildings with an exciting mix of brands that will enhance the area. By welcoming Everyman at The Whiteley, we are continuing to build a destination within London that offers something for everyone. We pride ourselves on establishing genuine, long-term relationships with the retail and lifestyle partners in our developments, which is why we have welcomed Everyman to both Borough Yards and The Whiteley, where they will be a key part of the lifestyle offering.”

Alex Scrimgeour, CEO at Everyman Media Group PLC, added:We’re thrilled to announce that we will be launching a new Everyman venue in London as part of the The Whiteley development in Bayswater. We are looking forward to seeing this development come to life in such an iconic part of the capital.”

Alex Michelin, co-founder of Finchatton, said:We’re delighted to be welcoming Everyman to The Whiteley. Our vision for the area will see some of the most exciting new and established brands making their home in Queensway, marking a new lease of life for this beloved and iconic building to be enjoyed by residents, visitors and locals alike. We can’t wait for the doors to open and welcome cinema lovers back to The Whiteley.”

The major restoration and refurbishment of The Whiteley will become the cornerstone of Queensway’s wider regeneration, with over £3bn of collective landowner investment transforming the street between now and 2025. Plans for the area include a new retail strategy, significant public realm improvements, Tube station upgrades and regreening, including a new entrance to Hyde Park.
